So glad I came across this book, Conscious Bias by Alexi Venice, from a lesbian book review FB page. The MC, Monica Spade, Esq. works at a legal firm with some firm partners she doesn’t respect….loathes. To release her high stress from the office, she joins a Crossfit class. There she meets Shelby…oh, gorgeous Shelby. Sparks begin to fly. But, while Monica slowly checks out any real possibility of mutual attraction, her work at the firm takes her into the world of felony murder, deceit, bias, and carefully figuring out who the people around really are…good folks or “watch your back” folks. I liked the slow burn-romance-dance between Monica and Shelby. Plus, the humor in this book lands perfectly to carrying the story along. Conscious Bias is a well-articulated legal thriller/courtroom drama and unexpected ending on a couple of levels. Quite Surprised! This book is well written with very believable, well-developed characters. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND.Looking forward to the next book in this series. Surely, there will be a book 2….PLEASE!
